Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the overall management of the Bank and ensuring that good standards of governance permeate all of the Bank’s operations. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adopting and overseeing the implementation of the Bank’s strategic objectives, risk strategy, corporate governance, and corporate values
- Ensuring that adequate, effective, and independent controls are in place
- Overseeing the system of internal risk control
- Reporting related developments and discussing the internal risk management and control systems with the Audit Committee
- Being involved through a number of Board Committees
- Providing direction to the Senior Management
Meet the Members of our Board of Directors:
Mr. Khaled ZeidanWith 25 years of experience in investment advisory and financial markets, Khaled founded Capital EE in 2017, an advisory and arranging firm regulated by the Capital Markets Authority.Khaled also founded Gen X Management Partners, fund manager of MIC Ventures, a USD 48 million fund sponsored by the MOT, where the 2 LPs are Alfa and Touch. Capital EE has concluded two landmark deals in Lebanon in 2018, totaling around USD 300 million. Prior to that, Khaled founded and was a member of the Board of Directors of MedSecurities Investment, Impact Fund, Azure Fund, Building Blocks Fund, B & Y Ventures and Med All Cap Fund. Over 12 years, he led MedSecurities Investment as the Executive General Manager following through with strategic decisions and managing all aspects of the business, overseeing a team of 36 professionals with over USD 1.1 billion in AUMs; Khaled was nominated as the President of the Association of Stock Exchange Brokers in Lebanon. Previously, he was managing Synergy Capital Advisors from 2004 till 2006 . From 2000-2004, Mr. Zeidan was a Deputy Manager of Business Development at Groupe Societe Generale Lebanon. He served as Vice President of Capital Markets at Arab Finance Corporation between 1999 and 2000, and Associate in capital markets at Lebanon Invest between 1996 till 1999.
Mr. Fadi MakkiDr. Makki has more than 23 years of experience in public sector reform, strategy consulting, financial markets regulation, behavioral economics and trade policy. Dr. Makki served as Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Member of the Central Council of the Banque Du Liban.He worked as a Director/General Manager at Cisco Qatar as well as a Principal and Director at Booz & Company. He also served as Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Trade in Qatar and the Qatar National Food Security Program. Previously, he worked at the Islamic Development Bank, the WTO and ABN AMRO Bank. He was a visiting lecturer at the American University of Beirut’s (AUB) Olayan School of Business and Saint Joseph University’s faculty of Economics where he taught courses on trade policy and public sector governance.A pioneer in the application of behavioral economics and nudge to public policy in the Middle East. Currently leading the the first nudge unit in the Middle East - B4Development. He is founder of Nudge Lebanon and Consumer-Citizen Lab. He is affiliated with Georgetown University in Qatar and AUB’s department of economics. He served a two year term in the World Economic Forum's future council for behavioral sciences between 2016 and 2018, and currently member of the WHO's Technical Advisor Group on Behavioural Insights and Sciences for Public Health. He obtained his PhD from Cambridge University, Master degrees from the London School of Economics and Hull University, BA from the American University of Beirut and LLB from the Lebanese University.
Mr. Nasri Victor MalhameNasri Victor Malhame was born in 1952. He completed his doctorate/graduation in Economics and Finance at Paris-Dauphine University in 1979. Nasri V. Malhame started his banking career in Beirut in 1973 at BLC Bank, then moved to Paris in 1975 to complete his Doctorate.He joined B.A.I.I Paris (BNP affiliate) in 1980 and worked as Executive Director in various sectors of the international department of the bank covering Corporate/Investment Banking and Trade Finance. Dr. Malhame moved to BNP Paribas Group in Geneva in 1992 as Executive Director in charge of Private Banking and Trade Finance for Southern Europe and MENA region. In 2000, he was appointed member of the Executive Committee. In January 2009 he joined Arab Bank (Switzerland) Ltd. as Chief Executive Officer, based in Zurich and Geneva, until August 2017. Dr. Malhme is currently a board member at U-capital-Muscat (Oman) and chairman of the Audit Committee, Arab Bank Switzerland (Lebanon), He is also Chairman of ABCIL Holding Company (London), AB Fund Managers (Guernsey), Chairman of the Europroperty Fund (Luxembourg), Chambre de Commerce Arabo-Suisse (Geneva) and Arab Tunisian Bank (Tunis) and chairman of the Risk Committee.
Dr. Mazen SoueidDr. Mazen Soueid began his career as an economic consultant for Deutsche Bank in London and after that in New York. He then joined the International Monetary Fund IMF, in Washington DC as an economist. He is currently Chief Economist at BankMed Group.In addition, Dr. Soueid is currently the Economic and International Advisor to the office of the Prime Minister of Lebanon and he represents the Lebanese Banking Socio Economic Sectors. Dr. Soueid is also the President of the Productive Sectors Committee of the Socio Economic Council and a lecturer at the faculty of Economics at the American University of Beirut. Dr. Soueid holds and PHD from Brown University obtained in year 2000.
Mr. Philippe DagherPhilippe Dagher, is a passionate entrepreneur and investor with over 20 years of experience in payments services. Mr. Dagher, grew two businesses from start-up through effective business planning and creative sales and marketing techniques. He also, created and implemented various business processes and payments solutions.From 2001 until 2017, he was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of CashUnited SAL a joint stock company owned by Bank Saradar and represented by a network of over 500+ sub-representative locations offering payments services in Lebanon. In 2004, he also founded Extra Exchange a Lebanese based currency exchange company. Prior to that, in 1993, he founded Master Change a currency exchange company with two branches in France. Mr. Dagher holds a B.A in Marketing from Universite Paris Descartes
Mrs. Gina ArabGina Arab brings 18 years of investment advisory and financial markets experience. She was for two years Senior Executive Officer of MedSecurities Investments Dubai, the DIFC branch of MedSecurities Investment Sal (MSI).Mrs. Arab has been responsible for the establishment of the financial entity in the DIFC and lately, Mrs. Arab was handling special assignments for the Executive General Manager of MSI. Mrs. Arab was a co-founding Member of MedSecurities Investment, sal at time of inception in 2006. Over her career, she has held various leadership positions including Head of Sales at MSI Headquarters. With over 18 years of experience in investment advisory and financial markets, she has played a vital role in Advisory and in the closing of large private placement transactions. Mrs. Arab was a partner at Synergy Capital Advisors from 2004-2006 where she also provided advisory services to UHNW individuals, family offices, and financial institutions. In parallel, she was the Executive President of UFE-Representation Liban in 2013 (Union des Francais de l’Etranger) - Vice President - Co-Treasurer and Administrator of UFE during 1999 to 2013. In 2014, Mrs. Arab was elected as the official French Representative in Lebanon and she was regularly serving at the French Embassy. She attained her Masters in Finance from the American University of Beirut.
Sheikh Saleh Al SagriSheikh Saleh Al Sagri is currently the owner and Chairman of Safari Group Limited.Sheikh Saleh Al Sagri holds a BA in Business Administration from Manchester University. He was the Managing Director of Al Sagri Trade Enterprise from 1975 to 1984. Sheikh Saleh Al Sagri was the Chairman of the Mediterranean & Gulf Cooperative Insurance & Reinsurance SJSC from 2009 till 2017.
Ms. Leila HammoudMs. Leila Hammoud joined Grant Thornton in 1987 where she is currently a Senior Partner and the Head of Special Advisory Services for all Financial and Management Consulting Services.In addition to her experience in the public sector, in the tourism industry and with several NGOs, she led teams that provided audit services including assessments of audit risks for a number of banks in Lebanon. She also provided complete due diligence for banks for the purpose of mergers and/or acquisitions. Ms. Hammoud obtained her B.B.A. from the American University of Beirut in 1987 and her CPA from California in 1998, before receiving her license to practice in the State of New Hampshire in 2002.
